What do you do when your 7-year-old tests positive for the flu? You go and sit at the urgent care facility… even on your birthday. You should get tested just for the safety of the people around you. Do not go to work and expose your co-workers to the flu germs. Instead, take your sleep-deprived self in the baggiest, least flattering clothes you have, and go sit at urgent care…. even on your birthday. Did I mention it’s my birthday?

Take the mask!

You tell them you have been exposed to flu… and you take the mask. You need to take the mask even if all they have left are the children’s masks.  It’s the right thing to do. Leave your never-ending to-do list at work.

“But it’s my birthday!”

Oh well! Scrap all of your ideas of what your birthday looks like, and go be proactive. Sit in the crowded waiting room of an urgent care facility. Then, get stared at by old men and young kids who are confused if you are a child or an adult. I can see where the kid’s mask could cause confusion, but it’s for THEIR protection. Do the right thing, not just for your sake, but because you want to ensure everyone around you is protected.

So friends…

If you are sick, know a friend who is sick, or have a sick family member…do the right thing. Stop it from spreading to other people. Do it even if it’s hilariously humbling, cause you might just have the flu.
